Overall Club Book Summary:
It was better than Ringworld in being less sexist.
"Women are so emotional... I learned that from this book!"
"Didn't realize [the sexism] went on as long as it did"
"Oh the cover!"
"At that time many covers didn't match the books"
Member banter:
AW: I enjoyed this book (Sword-dancer by Jennifer Roberson) much more than one of the alternatives (The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie) which was an entire book of exposition for a long series that I won't continue
DC: Strong recommend for "Uprooted" by Naomi Novik (old stories of Europe retold, eastern European fable stories, taken interesting pieces of and retold)
AR: Second to the recommendation for "Uprooted". It is what happens when a Druid and a Wizard try to compare notes
AW: If you want to get sucked into a series for the characters, and are willing to go over the same ground a few times, read David (and Leigh) Eddings
AW: Suggested reads Belgariad / Mallorean (5 each books in the series) by David Eddings Elenium / Tamuli (3 each books in the series) by David Eddings
MB: Suggestion for next book https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/52185082
DM: There’s some interesting looking lists at the end that might make good categories. https://shepherd.com/best-books/sci-fi-where-food-plays-a-defining-role
